What is the future of artificial intelligence in environmental monitoring?

In-Finitude had the pleasure of presenting Pollenn at UBK25 in Bern, organized by FOEN (Federal Office for the Environment) and EOBC (Environmental Observation and Reporting Conference). This edition dedicated to artificial intelligence in environmental observation highlighted numerous innovations and their ethical and regulatory implications.

Selected among more than 20 projects, Pollenn® generated strong interest thanks to its geospatial approach for biodiversity monitoring and invasive species management. Our demonstrations and our perspectives on artificial intelligence integration generated numerous exchanges and opened promising collaboration opportunities.

During this day, participants could test Pollenn® as users and administrators and discover in real-time the encouraging results of our pilot project with the PIBG association and the Canton of Geneva against the Asian hornet. This demonstration showed the potential of our approach to act quickly thanks to effective coordination of field actors. In the field, no new nest has been reported for a week and all known nests were destroyed before the queens emerged, which helps protect millions of bees and insects for next year.

Many thanks to Brigitte Reutter, Karin Fink, Séverine Evéquoz and the entire FOEN team for the organization, as well as to the partners:
